Materiais Diversos (MD) is currently entering a new cycle. In this moment of renewal and repositioning, two guiding pillars have been defined, shaping its mission and clarifying the essence of its work: MD Programs and MD Accompanies.

MD Programs embodies the curatorial practices of Materiais Diversos: public presentations, publications, gatherings, mediation projects, training, and research. Through this pillar, the organisation creates spaces for exchange between artists, audiences, and territories, fostering experiences that question and expand the scope of contemporary performative practices.

MD Accompanies conveys an ongoing commitment to singular artistic trajectories. Within this pillar, Materiais Diversos develops processes of support, production and co-production, residencies, and critical guidance, creating the conditions for research, risk, and the circulation of works in development.

It supports the creation and production of artistic projects that circulate both nationally and internationally, engaging artists at different stages of their trajectories, from research to presentation. Materiais Diversos can be understood as a house-laboratory — a place where one experiments, cares, produces and shares. The organisation is grounded in a territorial and relational ecosystem that includes spaces in Minde, Alcanena and Lisbon, hosting creative processes, residencies and presentations. It positions itself as a structure of artistic resilience for small- and mid-scale works, supporting artists with established or emerging trajectories while affirming their distinct identities.

It is committed to artistic renewal, in dialogue with the challenges of a world in transformation, gently radicalising its approach. It advocates for a plurality of voices — across generations, ways of thinking and modes of making — among artists, team and audiences, opening space for the emergence of new languages and perspectives. It offers a context of trust in which artists can experiment, fail and begin again, acting as a reliable partner in the production and dissemination of projects at both national and international levels.

It places the body at the centre and understands the construction of a collective body as a social and political force. With a collaborative and feminist approach, it positions artists at the core of the project and promotes hybrid formats, mediation and transmission, fostering a community rooted in care and experimentation. In this way, it asserts itself as a living, inclusive and dynamic project, sustained by long-term relationships and by essential moments of shared presence.

With a focus on contemporary dance and its intersections with other practices, Materiais Diversos operates continuously as an incubator for artists and ideas, affirming itself as a space for encounter, creation, and critical thought.
